Ride 2-The Dunk

 Ride 2 -- October 27, 2021

Our second ride of the season went swimmingly--literally.
Usually for the second ride of the season we ride to a local boat ramp around sundown--the nights are getting longer and the time change is on the horizon, so the rides will soon start to happen earlier, or on weekends only.

We rode approximately 8 miles today, again in perfect conditions--slight wind, about 72 degrees and a sun setting that made for a candy like sky.

Everyone was out on the docks for the sunset tonight.  We rode our bikes out to the end, set them on the kickstands, and sat on the doc to watch the sunset.

I'm glad it was warm outside and the water temp was still decent, because as soon as I got done taking the bike pics, my townie tilted and fell right in the water!  VERY luckily, my camera was around my neck and not in the bag on the back of the bike! The bike was easy to pull out of the water after being submerged about a minute, but the coveted blue angel cup that held Jen's tea, fell out of the holder and decided to try and float away, just out of my reach.

Without hesitation, I knew I had to get in the water and save that cup, so off came the shoes and socks, into the water I went (deeper than expected, and chillier than expected) and grabbed the cup as the sun set.

The final two mile finish was a chilly one, but the memory of ride two will be one for the book, for sure!
